Yet another project!

I haven't written anything this weekend (yet), but I have been working on a drawing of The Hulk for my son's room. It's been fun! My eldest child has been filming my drawings to add them to YouTube. 😎

Of course, this ADD brain of mine is always jumping around and I have set a new project for myself. This one is a project that I will need to dedicate my whole self to, and I think it will yield excellent results! My family is a bit obsessed with superheroes and all things Marvel. SO! I have decided to dress up as Black Widow for Halloween. I usually just throw on a witch hat and call it a day (I have a nice little collection of witch hats actually!). This new costume idea requires immediate action. I don't exactly have Scarlet Johannsen's figure, and know I never will. We have completely different body types. But that does not mean I shouldn't work on getting myself in the most Butt-kicking shape of my life!
I've fluctuated between a vegetarian and vegan diet for several months. I feel better when vegan, but vegetarian suits my family life a bit better. I think making more vegan choices will help with my Black Widow project. I am also heading back to the gym, where I will pair cardio and weight training. My goal is heading to the gym for one hour four times a week and working out 20-30 minutes a day at home when I don't get to the gym.
I would ask you to wish me luck, but I don't need luck. Wish me dedication!
XOXO

The "Someone" Inside

Well, well, well.  What was I saying about Time?? It's only been two years since my last post.

I have been searching, journeying and experimenting in life. I'm almost 40! Yes, 40!!! And what I am finding is that all those things I wanted to be when I was 20, are still inside me somewhere. I call her "Someone".
When I was 20, I new I wanted to be a mom. Check. I wanted to find love. Check. I want to be an ethical person. Check? I wanted to be an artist. (We'll get back to that one). I wanted to be fit and healthy and beautiful. Ummmm...

Mostly, I wanted to be happy. Certainly, I have been happy. I would guess happier than most. I am extremely lucky. The Man and I have been married longer than most people we know. I have three amazing, funny, beautiful and healthy children. I have wonderfully supportive family. I have had a pretty successful career where I have helped bring art to many.

So why is Someone nagging me constantly? Why does she make me feel like a failure? I mean, I have done pretty well by her. I have kept her safe. I think of her frequently. But she is always there, reminding me that I have not lived up to all she wanted me to be.

She gives me a lot of crap about not making time for art. I give my days to helping other people develop their art. I give them all my creative ideas. I inspire them. But what happens when I get inspired? Someone gets very excited. We head to the art supply store, grab some supplies and head home. As soon as we get home, it's time for dinner, then homework, bath time and putting the kids to bed---oh, and I have to make sure there are enough clean towels and lunches packed. THEN, I am tired. But, what about the art Someone was so excited about? Sorry, Someone. Sometimes being a grown up sucks.

I always tell my students that Art is your best friend and it will never leave you. It will always be there for you when you need it.

Someone and Art are ganging up on me. I am feeling the pull back to my easel like a magnetic force. I want to post videos to my YouTube channel and Instagram more often. I would love to create a following and supplement my income through art making. Someone may be taking over. We will see!

I can only focus on one thing at a time, Someone. So, I will post about all your other "wants" another time. For now, be patient with me? I will be back. I promise.

In The Beginning...

I would say that I have lost my mind, but I question whether I ever truly possessed it in the first place. Starting a blog? Because I have so much free time, right?  Time is a relative term, right? ;-)
This is time I could be cleaning, painting, crocheting, SLEEPING...
But who needs that anyway.
I feel like I am like most moms. One day we realize there is not time or room for a social life. We resort to Facebooking and Tweeting for social interaction. But those really aren't the proper venues. People are judgmental and harsh, especially those that have nothing better to do than trolling on social networks all day. Those are the same people who get tired of hearing you talk about your kids, but are also quick to tell you exactly what a good parent should do--- you know the type, the one's without kids!
Truth is, I will never stop talking about my kids. Not only do they own my heart, but they monopolize my time! Their stories are my stories. So I will blog them. I will blog about anything I darn well please. This is my free therapy session. :-)
I just needed somewhere to vent that could be just about me, only me. I need somewhere that I can be number one. Even if I only blog once in a while, that is time that is mine. And I think I am pretty cool.
