A Poem

If I were to tell you
That I love you,
Would say it in kind?
Would you feel it
In your bones
With every breath
And every pulse?
Would you feel like running
Far away
From anything real
From every feeling
From each little touch?
Because when I think of
How I love you
Each beat and pulse
Head swimming
In the rush,
I might catch fire.
I may implode.
I need to know.
Would you use my love
To feed your ego?
To be a safety net?
Is it convenient for you,
To know how much I love you
And I hate how much I do?
If I were to tell you
That I love you,
Would it change your mind?
